Top 5 Key Takeaways from IMEX22

IMEX22 recorded its largest numbers in years and the EVA team felt it onsite. From the hustle and bustle of the exhibit hall for 3 days to packed sessions and engaging evening events, IMEX22 showed the event space is alive and well.

IMEX22 Stats

50,000 Appointments * 3,420 Total Buyers * 8,605 Total Participants * 2,656 Hosted Buyers from 49 Countries * 2,200+ Exhibiting Companies

EVA had a great time meeting with event organizers and vendors to gauge the collective pulse of the meeting industry in 2022. We had a lot of fun, made many meaningful connections, and learned a lot of great insights.

Below are 5 key takeaways we gained from IMEX22.

#1: Appointment Scheduling Was Crucial

Many attendees overcame the challenges of 2,200 exhibits by making appointments with exhibitors ahead of time through the IMEX22 portal. They were easily able to track their time and connect with those exhibitors that were critical to advancing their event needs.

#2: Hybrid Events Can Be Engaging and Cost-Effective

EVA partnered with the Event Leadership Institute to broadcast interviews live from IMEX22 and demonstrate how hybrid can occur without the high cost.

Here's a playlist with all the interviews:

#3: Meeting Planners Are Looking to Achieve Full-Spectrum Engagement

Meeting planners are looking for engagement tools and platforms that connect with their registrants before, during, and after their events. These extended events with the ability to capture and synthesize data are the next step in the evolution of the event planning role.

#4: Client Support is King

With the right partner, Hybrid doesn’t have to feel like organizing 2 conferences in one. We listened to many stories at the EVA Booth and the strongest focus in event tech should be on client support.

#5: The Event Planning Community is Strong

Although it took 25 minutes to walk from one side of the exhibit hall to the other, it was a very much welcomed walk o visit with thought leaders and companies throughout the industry who are advancing the way we do business, together.

Moving Forward After IMEX22

We’re invigorated after IMEX22. The opportunities for event organizers are immense and we’re getting a glimpse at how synergies between in-person and virtual events can create optimal outcomes for attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, and event organizers!
